Hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgeon
Mr Ben Dowdle specialises in upper limb surgical reconstruction managing all hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder problems.
Ben has particular interest in advanced arthroscopic (key-hole) techniques, joint replacement surgery and upper limb trauma.
HAND
Using microscopes and precision instruments, Dr Dowdle can repair most complex hand injuries or disorders resulting from trauma or disease. Microsurgery allows him to repair the delicate nerves, blood vessels, tendons and bones in the hand for optimal functionality.
WRIST
Arthroscopic wrist surgery utilizes small, minimally invasive instruments and a camera to view and treat issues inside the joint, offering quicker recovery times and reduced risk of complications compared to traditional open surgery. This technique is Dr Dowdle’s preferred approach for treating wrist fractures, arthritis, or carpal tunnel syndrome.
ELBOW
Ranging from the minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to the more complex open surgery, Dr Dowdle focuses on a variety of conditions affecting the elbow joint, including fractures, ligament injuries, arthritis, or nerve compression. His priority is to restore function, reduce pain and improve mobility of the elbow.
SHOULDER
Ranging from the minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to more extensive open shoulder surgery, Dr Dowdle can repair or replace damaged structures in the shoulder caused by injuries or conditions including rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, dislocations, or fractures that affect the joint's function and mobility.
